Why you’re likely to leave your job

Working ‘the 9 to 5’ is the norm. Wake up at 6 a.m., gulp down a strong coffee, storm through rush hour traffic, sit down at a stark white desk and continuing doing so until the clock strikes 5 p.m. and repeat every weekday after. This is how working has been done for generations, so it’s how society views work as the norm, or at least it was…

Studies show that by 2020, 40 percent of the workforce will consist of freelancers, entrepreneurs and contractors and currently 78 percent of those working in coworking spaces are under the age of 40 years old. This means, as millennials age and raise the next generation, coworking is only going to become the more popular choice.

It’s not just a benefit for the worker but many companies are realizing the benefits of letting employees (or contractors) work from preferred space of choice – with the revolution of the internet, why not? Those who choose coworking over a traditional office setting report that they find the style beneficial for many reasons:

  • 90 percent report feeling more confident while working
  • 92 percent are more satisfied with their workspace
  • 91 percent have better interactions at their space of work
  • 68 percent found it easier to concentrate while working
  • 64 percent were able to complete more tasks on time
  • 70 percent reported feeling healthier compared to working in a traditional office setting
  • 50 percent found themselves with even higher incomes
  • 60 percent are more relaxed and less stressed working from their preferred space

The notion of working from a coffee shop-like setting filled with other professionals to mingle and bounce ideas off of is no longer a dream you woke up from when hitting your alarm at 6 a.m., it is a reality of the present for many and with sweeping numbers of people gravitating towards this option, it’s likely the reason you too will leave your office job at some point in the future.
