You’ve packed you’re bags and you’re ready to go. You’re saying goodbye to your old property and ready to face the new one with a smile on your face. But take a pause and do a little replay. Have you prepared the house for the upcoming owners?
There are still some tasks that you must do to complete the rite of passage of passing the property to someone else. There are still things to check and fix. But where does the line draw? Which parts of the property do you still need to fix and complete and which parts do not? We created a list to help you out.
What you need to complete:
- Clean, clean, clean
You don’t want to leave a wrong impression to the new owners. You would wish to pass the property in its top shape. That’s why you have to thoroughly clean the property before leaving.
- Fixed electricity, sink, etc.
The contract that you and the homebuyer signed must have a clause if the sink and electrical sockets and so on are working. If not, make sure to fix these faulty parts. The new homeowners might get angry when they find out that there’s something wrong with the property.
- Codes to security alarms and keys
The new homeowners won’t be able to live inside the property when they can’t get in. Make sure that you created a list of the codes to the security alarms and of course you have given them the complete set of keys. Assure them that you no longer have the copy of the keys to make them feel safer.
Factors that are no longer under your domain:
- The new renovations
Sometimes it’s hard to see something you would love change. Unfortunately, you’re not the one who’s controlling the reins on how the property would look.
Lock changes
The new homeowner might change every codes and keys in the property. As the former homeowner, you shouldn’t feel upset about this certain change as this is a normal safety precaution.
- Furniture
You have the right to move out all of the furniture that you own in that property. The house is the one that you’re selling, not the things inside. What you should leave on is the other fixtures such as the light bulbs, faucets, and shower heads.
- Change of electricity and water name
It’s up to the homeowner to supervise and clarify the change in the name of the electricity and water. You just have to be there just in case they need an authorized letter.
When you’re done completing the quick to do list above, you’re surely ready to move on from your former home and face a new future.
