There seems to be a price tag attached to everything we see, but there are some things money can’t buy – like the sense of feeling ‘at home.’
As an expatriate living in the Philippines the sense of feeling at home comes naturally. HSBC’s 2016 Expat Explorer survey revealed that the Philippines felt like home in less than six months for 45 percent of expats.
Expats shared how easy it is to cultivate good relationships with locals and foster relationships, which makes sense because the Philippines ranked in 5th place for social life and in 8th place for ease of integrating with locals.
Making a move to the Philippines not only promoted new relationships, but expats also said the lifestyle enriched the relationship between their partner and other family members. The Filipino community places a lot of emphasis on creating good environments for raising children; This coupled with affordable education and housing seems to unify a family even tighter together.
The next time you’re searching for your next home abroad, remember that there are some things that money cannot buy and keep the Philippines in mind.
