It’s that time of year again. Christmas decorations are going up and people are beginning to focus on the upcoming festive period. For real estate agents, especially those who don’t work with overseas buyers, the holiday season can be a drag on business.
Local residents are less interested in purchasing property during this time of year as they instead turn their attention to buying gifts for others and making travel plans for the holidays. However, you can still keep yourself busy and maybe even bring in a few extra clients or at least lay the foundation to hit the ground running in 2020. Here are a few things you can do to make it happen.
Target social media to attract international clients
Local buyers may be less active, but it is a big world out there. Using social media outlets such as Facebook or Instagram and targeting an overseas audience with an interest in your area and/or real estate can be an easy way to generate more leads. This is the time of year where many people from places such as Australia, Europe and the USA will be travelling.
By reaching them before they start their journey, they can schedule a meeting with you while planning their trip. And, of course, if you aren’t an expert in social media, Dot Property can help with that. Just contact us to get started.

Send out a calendar
People will use a free calendar. Think about it. How many calendars have you actually bought during your life? The answer is probably none because you have always had them given to you. Now is a great time to get in on the act and send a calendar out to your mailing list.
It doesn’t have to be anything overly creative or fancy. All you need is strong branding, photos of properties in your portfolio and easy to find contact information. You may think this is expensive, but think about it like this: how much would pay to have your information in front of clients each and every day. That is what a calendar can offer.
Host a holiday party
People love holiday parties. If you have room in the budget to throw one for your clients and partners, do it. These are a great time to network with homebuyers as well as developers. Believe it or not, business does get done during the holiday season, but it only happens if you’re proactive. This means you will need to plan ahead of time and avoid scheduling it too close to the actual holidays when people will be busy.
If you don’t have the time or budget for a party, personally delivering gift baskets to clients is another good way to get some face time and ensure they are thinking about you. And don’t forget to mention any end of year deals or specials you’re offering.
