Whenever a guest enters your home, the first thing they always notice is the entryway. Simply put, the entryway is the space from your front door to your living room. The entryway is usually where your guests make their first impression of how you clean and decorate the rest of your home; so of course, you want the entryway to look clean and unique at the same time. For those who are wondering how to do something like that without paying too much, then here are some awesome entryway decorating tips that you can follow:
- It’s always a good idea to define the space in your entryway with a vibrant color to make your guests feel welcome every time you open the door for them. Some great starter colors are red, orange, and yellow. Of course, the color scheme depends on your tastes; as long as the color exudes an aura of hospitality and a feeling of being welcomed, it shouldn’t be a problem.
- Always include a carpet or a runner on the floor of your entryway. A runner is a sign towards your guests that they will always be welcome in your home. While some people prefer just putting the carpet or runner near the furniture, it’s a better idea to keep it away from any piece of furniture. Putting some space in between your runner and your home furniture suggests a feeling of “openness” within your home. This certain feeling makes visitors feel comfortable inside your house as they walk inside from the door.
- Don’t have the budget to buy a runner? Don’t have the time to clean one? Just simply paint one instead! You can even have it designed (or have your kids design it).
- Confused what to put on the walls of your entryway? Stick to cute portraits and paintings instead of a hanging drawer on the wall. This will prevent accidents, such as your tall visitor getting a head bump because of the drawer and other issues. You can also put posters and wallpapers instead.
- Don’t know what to hang on the walls of your entry way or don’t have enough space in your entryway? Here’s one fantastic wall decor that is easy to make and decorate!
- Minimalist art is the rage nowadays, so if you want your entryway to look simple yet efficient, here’s an inspiration for you:
- Want a rustic feel for your entryway? Place an old-looking wall clock on the entryway wall and a few pieces of ornamental mirrors too. Keep in mind though, that putting ornamental mirrors work really well if your wall has darker color shades.
- If you’re living in a condominium or a small apartment, you can compile some of your favorite pictures and portraits into one. Fill up your own series of shadow boxes with memorable pictures and souvenirs, like wedding invitations, birthday cards and others. You can then put this on your entryway wall.
- Don’t forget to put your shoes, slippers, sandals, hats, and jackets in a small cabinet on the side of the entryway. It’s an embarrassing thought to have your guests look at all the shoes and slippers lying all over the entryway. Here are some great examples that you can follow:
- What do you usually do before you go out? You check yourself out with a mirror, of course! This is why it’s convenient to put a mirror near the entryway!
- Finally, for all those good morning vibes to circulate into your system, make it a point to write a greeting or a morning quote to yourself on a small board with colored chalks. Of course, you know exactly where to put it!
These ideas should work really well for those who live in big townhouses or in the smaller condos in the city area. For more home improvement tips, please feel free to follow us on Facebook or on Twitter!
