The Everygirl NYC Fizz 56 Apartment Shoot by Michelle Lange Photographer

Filipinos have horror vacui also known as kenophobia or fear of empty spaces. As much as possible, we decorate every inch of our house with a certain trinket to avoid facing the bared walls. Figurines, pictures of religious idols, calendars – we have them all hanging up to our walls. Filling up the empty spaces is a cultural norm to us, something that’s part of being traditionally Filipino.

One of our beloved trinket for filling up spaces are posters. Movie, quotes, etc. we have them all. If you want to fill up your home with tantalizing images then follow these tricks below:

Pick a theme

Putting together posters that do not deliver a single message will look messy in the end. Create a theme that belongs to the whole vibe of your house. For example, if you’re a huge sports fan, maybe you can put up your collection of posters of your favorite NBA stars. If you’re a movie buff, it’s time to showcase your hoarded posters and put them proudly into your walls. Take a hint from this gorgeous and coherent black and white posters above.

Arrange properly

Good arrangement can make or break the whole look of the posters. Have posters that are in different sizes? Put the biggest one on the center and surround it with the smaller posters. If your posters are in the same sizes, then arrange it through a color scheme. Keep the lighter color ones on the same side and the darker ones on the other. Keep the arrangement linear so that it will look pleasing in the eyes.

(Un)frame posters

Framing posters is a classic way to protect and to display these decorating gems. However, it can get pricey when you opt for frames. Fortunately, there are other methods of hanging your posters. You can use hangers to prop up your posters for that rough artsy look. Or you choose to buy cheap, plastic, frames, that can surely protect your beloved posters. Another option are binder clips. This school must have can effectively hang your posters, Polaroid-style.
