It’s October which means Halloween is right around the corner. Time to sit around the bonfire in our scary costumes and tell each other spine tingling stories. We scoured the internet for some stories that will serve as every real estate agent’s nightmare. Sit back, relax, and relish into these true to life horror stories.

Toilet issue

Morgan F., a realtor in the United States has gone through something quite horrible during an open house. Everything was perfect – from the free food to the potential clients. That is, until a mother came up to him and said that her son took a dump on the toilet and it didn’t flush.

What we can learn: People who attend open houses often test the property to its limits. Horror stories like this exist when the agent is not prepared enough. To avoid this, use signs that says “Do not use” and so on to tell the open house visitor to steer clear from these areas.

Unaware

Therese M. was so excited to sell this gorgeous house in the suburbs. When she visits  the property she was quite surprised to see that it’s still fully furnished. The TV was even open when she arrived! Then a woman came up to her and asked her what she’s doing in her house. Turns out that the owner is not the one who’s selling the house. It’s the renter who’s trying to pull through a subletting set up.

What we can learn: Make sure that the seller of the house is always credible. There are tons of scammers out there who will sell a house that they don’t actually own. Being the opposite of rigorous in times like these may affect your career in the long haul.

True story

Emile L. was pumped up to sell a gorgeous apartment in Manhattan. But she was bewildered to find out that the price of the property is lower than it should be. It turns out, a dead body has been lying around the apartment for two months and there are still stains that can be seen on the floor. Emile was ready to tell the truth to potential clients until a nosey neighbor beat her and already told the clients.

What we can learn: Selling a property with bad reputation can be hard. But you can miss all the boohoos that come with it if you tell your client right away about the true history of the property.

Plague attack

Realtor Joey H. already sold a bungalow to a loving couple a few months back. But things turned sour when he received complaints about the property. Turns out the home inspector missed the plagues at the property’s roof.

What we can learn: As agent you have to personally talk to the home inspector about the true status of the property. You have to make sure that the house is livable and that the homebuyers will get a satisfying deal out of it.

The life of a real estate agent is filled with some horrors and slip ups. Always remember to put your best foot forward and never settle for less. Always aim for the best so that you’ll be able to win trust of your clients and climb up the real estate game.
