Nestled in the heart of Bulacan, the City of Malolos stands as a living legacy of Philippine history, culture, and heritage. The first-class city houses the Barasoain Church which became the symbol for the nation’s quest for freedom. Officially known as the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, its architectural grandeur harks back to the Spanish colonial era. The name “Barasoain” itself is steeped in history, derived from the town of Barasoain in Navarre, Spain due to the striking similarities in climate and environment between the Spanish town and the lush surroundings of Malolos. As a result, the church embodies a unique blend of Spanish influence and local character.
